ABOUT THE ARTIST
Maggie Fischer is an artist whose work is informed by a lifelong connection to the Jersey Shore. Growing up near the water shaped her interest in weathered surfaces, shifting landscapes, and the textures found in nature, as well as the built environments of surrounding towns and cities. She draws inspiration from landscapes, cityscapes, and natural forms, observing how time and environment leave their mark. She earned her art degree from Marymount Manhattan College.
Her painting practice is process-based and experimental, often incorporating discarded or found materials to create layered, tactile surfaces. Texture plays a central role in her work, allowing imperfection, erosion, and transformation to guide each piece.
Alongside her studio practice, Fischer is the Art Director of the Long Branch Arts & Cultural Center, where she supports artists and leads community-based creative initiatives.
